It is common in most registries around the world to have a basic inspection of the newly registered horse. Don't panic! This is only a basic inspection, even if your horse does not pass, your horse will still be registered with ABMHR and will continue to compete normally. This inspection's primary goal is to set the standard for your stable, and for your horse's breed. If this inspection is fail and you believe as the owner that your horse could do better, please feel free to appeal the inspection and a admin will re-review your horse based on the standards. If your horse scores a 85% or higher the appeal will be rejected.
Your horse will be reviewed when it is registered and will be manually inspected by a admin of ABMHR. Your horse must make a 50% or higher in order to pass his inspection. Please note that BSO (a horse without a model) are not allowed to take this inspection for this inspection is based primarily on pedigree and model type. Once the horse has a body it can appeal for an inspection. Below is the set of standards that will be used for the inspection:

Tips On Getting the best Rating
1. The sire has to have at least one award or championship to earn 5 points to score
2. The dam has to have at least one award or championship to earn 5 points to score
3. The horse has to have at least one award or championship to earn 5 points to score
4. at least one offspring of the horse has to have at least one award or championship to earn 5 points to score
5. If the horse is a Breyer, Peter Stone, Copperfox, Painted Pony, Collecta or some other high quality resin then the horse gets a full 5 points to score... if the horse has a Schleich, or Safari model then the horse will receive just 3 points to score.., if no good body is present... such as Barbie or Grand Champion... the horse will receive a 0 to score card. (Just to let you know... It's ok if you do collect Barbie horses or Grand Champion bc I love them! But, this inspection is going for realism sort of thing...)
6. The horse's grandparents all must have at least one award or championship to earn 5 points... if only 3 grandparents- 4 Points, 2- 3 points, 1- 2 points, 0-1 point... (you get this, right?)
7. This is really just flexible... I judge a horse on the strength of the legs and the detail that they have. If they are paper thin or really unrealistically fat then I just add points accordingly.
8. This is also really flexible... I judge a horse by the head expression. If the horse looks to be in pain, or realistically detailed, or comfortable, excited, or happy then I add points accordingly.
40 points would be a straight A= 100%
You add up the points from the inspection and divide by 40. Then you should have your results!
Just for note... Grade 1, Silver and Gold standards are very hard to get! You have to have the best model ever with the best pedigree ever to get these types of awards. Trust me, Grade 3 and up are good grades to be in!
Also... for note... don't just register any horse that you have... register your best horses so that you can get the Best rating.
